1. Flat / Matte (0-5% Reflection)
Look: Velvety, rich, hides imperfections.
Best For: Ceilings, low-traffic living rooms.
Warning: Hard to clean. If you scrub it, you burnish it (create a shiny spot).
2. Eggshell / Satin (10-30% Reflection)
Look: Soft glow.
Best For: Hallways, Kids' Rooms, Dining Rooms.
Benefit: The "Goldilocks" zone. Washable but not shiny.
3. Semi-Gloss / High-Gloss (50%+ Reflection)
Look: Wet, shiny, glass-like.
Best For: Baseboards, Trim, Doors, Kitchen Cabinets.
Benefit: Indestructible. Moisture resistant.
The MVK Rule
We always recommend Satin for exterior walls and Eggshell for interior walls. It offers the best balance of washability and aesthetics.
