There is nothing worse than walking into a beautifully painted room and spotting a "hump" on the wall where a hole used to be. Drywall finishing is not construction; it is sculpture.
The "Hump" Problem
Amateurs apply tape and mud directly over the hole, building up layers that sit above the wall surface. When light hits it from the side (grazing light), it casts a shadow.
The MVK Method: Level 5 Finishing
We approach repairs differently:
- Square Cutting: We cut a clean square around the damage and install a backer board.
- Pre-Filling: We use "Hot Mud" (Quick-set compound) that is chemically harder than standard mud to prevent shrinkage.
- Feathering: The most crucial step. We spread the joint compound 12-18 inches wide around the repair. By tapering it out this far, the rise becomes undetectable to the human eye.
- Texture Matching: Whether it's Knockdown, Orange Peel, or Smooth, we match the existing pattern perfectly.
Water Damage Warning
If your drywall is bubbling or soft, never just paint over it. The gypsum core has dissolved. It must be cut out to prevent mold growth inside your AC cavity.

El Método MVK: Acabado Nivel 5
Abordamos las reparaciones de manera diferente:
- Corte Cuadrado: Cortamos un cuadrado limpio alrededor del daño e instalamos una tabla de respaldo.
- Pre-Relleno: Usamos "Hot Mud" (compuesto de fraguado rápido) que es quÃmicamente más duro que la masa estándar para evitar que se encoja.
- Difuminado (Feathering): El paso más crucial. Extendemos el compuesto para juntas de 12 a 18 pulgadas de ancho alrededor de la reparación. Al afinarlo tan lejos, la elevación se vuelve indetectable para el ojo humano.
- Igualación de Textura: Ya sea Knockdown, Piel de Naranja o Liso, igualamos el patrón existente perfectamente.
Advertencia de Daño por Agua
Si tu drywall está burbujeando o suave, nunca lo pintes encima. El núcleo de yeso se ha disuelto. Debe cortarse para evitar el crecimiento de moho dentro de la cavidad del aire acondicionado.
